For those of you hanging on to summer, you can go ahead and give it up; fall is here! Not only do we love planning fall weddings (see our post about it here!), we get so excited over fall engagement photos!
We’re no photogs, but we’ve seen some seriously beautiful pictures taken this time of year. Think bright, vibrant leaves, colorful blankets, and the perfect pair of riding boots. This post is here to help you make the most of fall engagement photos!
TIPS FOR TAKING FALL ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
Take Advantage of the Changing Season
Hopefully your allergies spare you this season so you can take advantage of the beautiful foliage this time of year. Grab your honey, a big blanket, and set your sights for the woods! Pictures in a pile of leaves or beneath a colorful tree are always insanely gorgeous and make for the perfect fall engagement photos!
Use a Blanket as a Prop
Crackling bonfires, cool, crispy air, and mugs of hot cider – what more could you need during the fall? A blanket. Preferably one that photographs well and adds a pop of color to your fall engagement photos, like this one our bride used!
Take Advantage of the Golden Hour
Any photographer who knows what they’re doing is going to encourage fall engagement photos during the golden hour. That hour of time when the sun is set perfectly in the sky and creates the perfect lighting for pictures. In fall, the golden hour seems to last a little longer and casts a perfect glow on couples’ fall engagement photos.
Remember that Textures are Essential
While this nugget of wisdom is true all year long, take advantage of chunky knit sweaters, leather riding boots, and patterned fleeces for your fall engagement photos. The right textures show up so nicely in photos and create a layer of dimension you may not have thought possible.
