A September Wedding at London Town and Gardens

At Moore & Co., we recently had the pleasure of planning a beautiful September wedding at London Town and Gardens in Edgewater, Maryland. Grace and Michael came to us with a clear vision: classic, preppy, and focused on the details. They also wanted enough breathing room to actually enjoy their day. That combination is exactly what we love to work with.

Grace grew up with deep ties to the Annapolis area. Even though she and Michael now live in New York City, home is still Maryland. Her mom lives in downtown Annapolis and has always loved the waterfront, so London Town and Gardens felt like the natural choice. Just minutes from Annapolis on the South River, the venue has the kind of character and history that a ballroom simply can’t replicate. The historic gardens, the water views, and the intimate scale of the property created the kind of backdrop that feels personal rather than just pretty.

Why London Town and Gardens Made Sense

Grace and Michael met in college. After years together, Michael proposed in Italy in June 2024, and the planning began shortly after. They found us through a referral from a family friend, and from our very first conversation, it was clear they had already done a lot of the thinking. They knew their vision. They just needed an experienced team to execute it and protect the day when things didn’t go as planned (more on that later).

The Coastal Formal Aesthetic That Tied Everything Together

The color palette of blue, green, and white sounds simple on paper, but the way Grace and Michael executed it was anything but. This wasn’t a casual beach wedding. The goal was coastal formal, and every vendor choice reflected that. Grace wore a textured strapless gown with a satin-edged long veil. Michael paired a blue tuxedo with a black lapel and bowtie. Together they looked polished and intentional, exactly the way the rest of the day felt.

The florals matched that energy perfectly. Garden roses, ranunculus, spray roses, delphinium, hydrangea, astilbe, sweet pea, stock, snapdragons, larkspur, and lisianthus came together in arrangements that felt lush and gathered rather than stiff or formal. The ceremony arch set a beautiful tone, and the centerpieces carried that same softness into the reception.

A September Reception That Went All Night

Even though there was a downpour right after the ceremony, the reception was still everything a September evening at London Town and Gardens should be. A live band kept 152 guests on the dance floor from the first song to the last. The couple had also asked us to carve out private moments throughout the timeline, which is something we always love to honor. A wedding day moves fast, and protecting those quiet moments is just as important as making sure the logistics run smoothly.

Behind the scenes, our team coordinated a full reset of the reception space during cocktail hour. Because guests had been seated in their reception chairs during the Catholic ceremony, transitioning the room required careful timing. Guests moved seamlessly from ceremony to cocktails to dinner without ever sensing the work happening behind the scenes.

By the end of the night, nobody cared. The band played, the dance floor stayed full, and guests danced straight through to the last song. That’s the thing about a well-planned wedding — when something unexpected happens, the day absorbs it and keeps moving. If rain is something you’re thinking about, our post on how to deal with a rainy wedding day walks through exactly how we approach it.

The Custom Details That Made This Wedding Feel Personal

This was a couple who understood that the details are what guests actually remember. Custom acrylic bar signs, a handmade hanging welcome sign, monogrammed cocktail napkins, a monogram escort board, and personalized menus with each guest’s name and entrée printed by hand. The stationery was letterpress from the very beginning, with a custom monogram running through everything from the save-the-dates to the menu cards. Even the menu shapes were fun, adding a little personality to an otherwise polished tablescape.

Getting notes like these afterward is honestly the best part of what we do. It reminds us exactly why we do this work, and we are so grateful to have been part of your family’s day.
