It’s on days like these, where all we want are the Spring flowers to start blooming and the temps to rise above 40, that we think back to weddings like Nicole and Jeff’s. Not only were we blessed with weather for the record books (think: sunny, blue skies, puffy white clouds, and crisp cool breezes), but the bride and groom were the sweetest. When Nicole and Jeff came to us in the beginning of planning, we knew we were in for a treat. Nicole was such a laid-back bride, speaking up to make her opinions heard, but trusting us completely with the design of her wedding. Jeff, the doting husband-to-be, looked at Nicole like she held his heart, which we learned to be so true! This couple was smitten with one another, which made us love them even more!

Their design was simple: Nicole wanted everyone in the bridal party to wear shades of green and she wanted in incorporated throughout her floral, linens, and decor.  A green and blush color palette in early Spring? That we could do! But the color green meant so much more to Nicole and Jeff than just a hue in their inspiration board. It happened to be the favorite color of her late son, Dominick. Her stories of Dom, which we affectionally referred to him as, kept us going. This wedding was so much more than just a union of two wonderful people; it was the celebration of a beautiful little boy’s life and his ever-present role in this family!

To bring this storybook tale to life, the venue had to be perfect. And what better place to marry your prince charming than Maryvale Castle in Lutherville, MD?

The setting was perfect and the date, set. The next steps in our journey together included Save the Dates and invitations, which Nicole and Jeff wanted to be anything but ordinary. We loved their input, but they also let us get a bit creative here, which was so much fun! We decided on a hand-delivered box, holding the invitation and a skeleton key-to-my-heart, which we found very fitting for a castle. Thankfully, we knew just the stationer to bring this all together for us, Preston’s Stationery.

One of our favorite parts of the entire design was the escort card display. Couples don’t usually want to invest much time or money into these, but we were too excited not to try this design at the Castle. The boxwood hedge made for the perfect background so the escort cards could really pop!

To say we were smitten with the details of this wedding is an absolute understatement. From the perfectly paired china, to the gorgeous, lush florals, to the feather and rose memorial for Dom, we couldn’t get enough. Looking back just reminds us how magical it was to see this design come to life!
