Destination weddings offer a chance to escape the ordinary and create a truly unforgettable celebration.
But planning a wedding from afar can feel overwhelming. So what is there to do? Well, you a hire a planner that you know and trust… perhaps one recommended by a friend? In this blog, we’ll share the story of Tommy and Sarah’s destination wedding in Bozeman, Montana, planned remotely by our team at Moore and Co. Events in Bel Air, Maryland.
Initially, Sarah and Tommy approached us with a charming, local farm wedding in mind. However, as we delved deeper, they found themselves head over heels for a completely new idea: a dream destination wedding in Bozeman, Montana, out West. Enchanted by the thought of saying their vows amidst the breathtaking vistas of the American West, they altered their plans. Their enthusiasm was contagious. Given our expertise in making dream weddings a reality, we were eager to help Sarah and Tommy turn their newly found dream into a reality. We are proud to say, together with an incredible team of vendors, we made it happen!
Planning a Destination Wedding From a Different State.
Once our destination wedding planning research was complete, we embarked on a site visit to the soon to be destination wedding venue, Foster Creek in March.
Foster Creek is a ranch with endless fields with the Rocky Mountain vista as its backdrop. When we arrived, there was so much snow! During our walk, we reached the ceremony site at the hilltop, providing a perfect view. The snow was knee-deep, turning our reconnaissance into a mini hike. Although snowy, we foresaw the March fields blossoming into a lovely venue for a July wedding.
As Maryland wedding planners, hosting a destination wedding in Montana’s picturesque setting was new for us, but not challenging. Instead, it turned out to be an exciting adventure that demanded a keen understanding of the local weather for foolproof planning which meant we had to come up with a plan A and B! We came up with two strategies – Plan A and Plan B. The crucial part was choosing the right vendors, and with the help of our expertise, we found some incredible ones!
Their Destination Wedding Vision: Western Meets Wildflower
For their destination wedding in Montana, we drew inspiration from the vibrant hues of a blossoming garden, punctuated with western-style elements for a unique twist.
The rustic charm of genuine leather accents provided a striking contrast against the softer elements of the celebration. Signature pieces included an eye-catching leather escort board backdrop and exquisite invitations elegantly wrapped in leather, each embossed with the couple’s distinctive wedding branding stamp.
We balanced these western touches with the more traditional, feminine luxe that comes with a wedding. The bridal party was a sight to behold in an array of pink bridesmaids’ dresses, each one thoughtfully chosen to complement the Maid of Honor’s floral print dress.
A delicate touch of soft pink floral print linens further elevated the feminine undertones of the event, creating a beautiful juxtaposition against the leather accents. This intricate blend of masculine and feminine, rustic and luxurious, contributed to a wedding ambience that was truly one-of-a-kind.
The Wedding
In a breathtaking display of love and commitment, the couple exchanged their vows atop a sweeping mountain vista, the Rockies painting a majestic backdrop for their special day.
The aisle they walked down was flanked by vibrant, garden-style floral arrangements, each end adorned with an array of delphiniums, gladioli, daisies, dahlias, roses, and lush greenery. To keep the mountain dust at bay, we installed a rustic boardwalk aisle, adding a touch of charm to this already scenic wedding ceremony.
After the vows were exchanged, the celebration smoothly transitioned to the reception. The main level was beautifully set for dinner, with the minutest details given due consideration. Floral prints mixed with wooden chargers and custom napkins created an intimate and cozy setting for the guests.
As the evening softened, the celebration moved upstairs to a warm space featuring a bar, a tantalizing dessert display, and comfortable seating. The climax of the evening saw guests gather outdoors, on an expansive deck, their spirits uplifted by the rhythm of dance under the starlit sky. The drone-captured image of the couple’s first dance remains a favorite memory as do the sunset photos of guests lost in the joy of dance.
As the night grew darker, the bride, Sarah, made her last change into a short dress paired with white cowgirl boots, bringing the enchanting mountain wedding to a close. Love and joy filled each moment, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
