Pantone Color of The Year – Living Coral
Every December, Pantone announces a color that will be widely used throughout the design world the upcoming year. The wedding industry goes absolutely wild for it! Above all, our culture relies heavily on trends, so we pride ourselves on keeping up-to-date and inspired by the current favorites. In today’s blog, we are taking a look back and recalling how and when we used this color! In addition, we’ll also share how we can envision ourselves and our couples incorporating this into their palette. That said, here are some ideas & inspiration for this year’s Pantone color, Living Coral!
Tried & True
Three years ago, Honeybook {the online platform we use throughout our client experience} reached out to us to design & curate their launch party in Washington D.C., and boy did we have this color on our mind. Although vibrant, this color has a bold softness to it that makes it feel romantic, especially in floral arrangements. Similarly, we loved how the rose-gold undertones allowed us to incorporate copper elements throughout the launch party.
Color Revival
Looking back, we noticed that this color was used a lot between 2014 & 2016, as Meredith + Chris did below back in 2014. We think it’s really interesting how the trends ebb & flow in such a short amount of time. While there are always those couples out there that love to play with color, we have seen a lot of neutral palettes in the last two years, and it’s exciting to see the tides turn again! I bet this time next year we’ll be dreaming of all white, greenery heavy weddings – just you wait!
Coral in Fall
Back in 2015, Ellie + Ben opted to play around with the traditional fall palette by bringing in some warm pops of coral, pink, + purple, and we think the end result was absolutely stunning. There are no rules when it comes to seasons & colors, and when we think it’s important to note that this year’s color can be used year round!
Mix It Up
Remember we mentioned no rules? Garden style weddings are still hugely requested, so why not use this color as a playful pop wherever possible?
