We all know peak wedding season is during the warmer months, but every once in a while we receive invites to a winter wedding. Winter weddings can be so much fun – an excuse to do something other than netflix, baking, and curling up on the couch.

With that said, it can be difficult to figure out what to wear to a winter wedding. After all, you want to be dressed wedding-appropriate, but you also want to be warm. We have a few tips and examples for you so you don’t have to sacrifice warmth for beauty!

Think thick fabrics

Winter clothing is all about the fabrics you wear – this can make a huge difference in how you’re feeling throughout the event. There is a big difference between a spring long-sleeve dress and a winter long-sleeve dress – trust us! A staple go-to fabric is velvet – this is the perfect option for combining warmth with formality. And the colors are so fun too!

If the dress code isn’t super formal. you can opt for a sweater dress. There are so many different variations of sweater dresses that suit almost every wedding.

We’re loving this dress!

Layers, layers, layers

When in doubt – layer up! Oftentimes, the temperature outside will be very different from the temperature on a crowded dance floor. This is where layering is your best friend. Start off with a nice warm coat and maybe an additional sweater or shaul, then shed a layer whenever necessary.

Fleece! Lined! Tights!

If you’re on TikTok, you know about fleece-lined tights. These have changed the game and become such a staple in everyone’s winter wardrobe! If you don’t own a pair yet, this is your sign to get one. These are sure to keep you warm and cozy in any setting, while looking like you’re much more formal than you feel!
